Vado HD vs. Sony Webbie PM1 - Outdoor Test (RC)
This was filmed with an HD Vado place right next to a Sony Webbie PM1. The colors are different (Vado a bit Amped - Sony a bit washed out). The zoom is different has (Vado wide angle and 2x Zoom - Sony has a normal lens with 4x zoom, the file format) is different (Vado records in large AVI files - Sony smaller MP4 files) Vado comes with 8 GB on - board and no additional memory slot - Sony comes with no memory on board, but it has a Memory Stick slot. The Sony also has rotating lens takes 5MPImages and can be connected as a USB Web camera to a PC. - Are on the other side - the size of the devices in about the same, both custom, rechargeable and replaceable batteries and has no optical zoom and image stabilization available. They also perform poorly in low light conditions and has no alternative white balance settings. Sony microphone is more sensitive than Vado, which is good, but also records a lot of background noise and wind. Both are greatBag "HD" as camcorders, imo better than the Flip Mino HD because of its integrated and non-replaceable battery, smaller screen size, and its smaller (4GB/1hr) on-board and non-expandable memory! .. Although many may impose this comment .. Imo Flip Flop! .. Pun intended:) While the Flip Ultra higher capacity memory, it is simply too bulky and the Kodak Zi6 with AAS (a plus for some) is simply too large in comparison, but at least she has a bigger screen. Overall, I prefer the Vado forthe slightly better picture and color quality, because it responds to changing light conditions much faster than the Sony. I prefer the Sony for the swivel chair lens, 5MP stills, 1080p, and the extra zoom (albeit with a loss of quality and image stability) and its web-camera function. Update: Similar tests with the addition of a Canon PowerShot Vado HD A2000IS (AVI files to 640×480) and the more expensive PowerShot sx200is (MOV files revealed at 720p) that although Canon records nice videos in terms of colors(White balance and contrast are produced adjustable) Vado both smaller files and sharper images (!!!) which is surprising. Vado improvements: 1) Remove the full-size usb at the base of the flap that makes the device stand, and replace it with a mini-USB connector. That could (also the size ie height) of the device. 2) Insert a microSD slot. 3) Insert a USB Web camera function. 4) Replace plastic with a metal tripod mount. 5)? Hope this helps, cheers, AP.
